The Powder Mills

Welcome to the PowderMills Hotel and Orangery Restaurant

The PowderMills is a stunning privately owned 18th Century listed Country House Hotel nestling in 150 acres of beautiful parklands, woods and large lakes.

Originally the site of a famous Gunpowder Works, it was reputed to have made the finest gunpowder in Europe during the Napoleonic Wars. It has now been skilfully converted into a fascinating Hotel. Set in beautiful tranquil grounds, guests can enjoy walks through woodland trails, absorbing the sights of the surrounding flora and fauna. A seven acre specimen fishing lake is available for guests. Wild geese, swans, ducks, kingfishers and herons abound in this relaxed ambience as the hotel's Springer Spaniels welcome many guests.

The PowderMills is situated just outside the historic town of Battle and adjoins the famous Battlefield of 1066. Experience the easygoing atmosphere and the unpretentious comfort of this beautiful country house.

The Hotel is tastefully furnished throughout with furniture and paintings in-keeping with the period of the property. From the Entrance Hall, where a log fire welcomes on long winter evenings, to the Bar, Drawing Room and the Large Music Room where civil weddings are held, the ambience is that of a traditional Georgian Country House.

The Orangery Restaurant with its marble floor, greek statues and huge windows looks out to the terrace and swimming pool. Delicious, imaginative modern cuisine is offered for luncheon and dinner every day of the week including snacks in the library and conservatory.
